Golf from the Bunker Bar
Monday The 12th May 2008

Khaow Kheow

1st John Hughes (17) net 69

2nd Dave Keats (25) net 75

3rd William Macey (10) net 75

John Hughes put himself into the lead for the golfer of the month title by winning for the second time this month, today he won with a three under par net 69 off the yellow tees at Khaow Kheow. Behind John came three player's who all came into the clubhouse with the same score of three over par net 75 but it was Dave Keats who claimed second place on the count back and William Macey who took third place and the luckless Gerry Cooney was the player to miss out again! Gerry's got to work on his back nine because he continues to lose out on the count backs but he got some consolation by winning one of the near pin prizes, the others went to Geoff Parker, Alan Sullivan and Colin Stokes.

MATCHPLAY

THE CADDY SHACK V THE BUNKER BAR

Crystal Bay Wednesday 14th May

These two teams played each other for the second time in as many months. The main topic of conversation concerned, can you guess, the very strange handicap system being used and the fact that everyone would be happy to see it change to the system that has worked successfully since golf was invented.

Bangpra is in the process of refurbishing the club house but has made every effort to accommodate golfers turning the hotel into a makeshift changing rooms and showers even providing buggies to and from the car park.

The first matches all went to The Caddy Shack to the dismay of the away team but a fight back by the Bunker tailenders drew some measure of respectability and the end result was a win for The Caddy Shack of 6 and 4

The first match featured Capt William but he met his match in Clive Bruce who only dropped two shots playing off 7. Paul Smith had another close encounter with Jeff North and lost on the last again. Paul is happy not to meet up with his nemesis, Jeff until next year.

It wasn't until the 7 match that the match turned around. Ron Ryan, 5 down before he knew it came back to win by 2 holes. Allan Sullivan had a topsy turvey game with Roger Moore winning on the eighteenth. The ever reliable John Hughes and PJ Redmond both won their matches but unfortunately all in vain.

Emerald 16th May

1st Ron Ryan (16) 39 points

2nd Reg Smart (25) 37 points

3rd Bryan Rought (21) 34 points

4th Mashi Kaneta (11) 34 points
