You can actually get withdrawal symptoms from lack of Fishing, or so it seems. The last month the phone has been red hot as the 'Regulars' wanted to know when the next trip was. Oh, forgot to mention, both the scribe and the boat were in 'Dock".
The boat goes in every year or so, so it is just a case of throwing money into the hole in the Sea, whilst the scribe was making sure he could see where his money went. So it was that on this day the regulars Mike, Chris, Max and Dean chugged out of Bang Sarae in a nice smart Bua's Dolphin, under the watchful, hopefully, eyes of the Scribe.
One of the things was that we had two small fish addicts on board, to whom a bag of small fish is at least as important as a big fish, yes I know but it takes all sorts, and in fact the Ladies much prefer a lot of small fish, they have better oil, or some such thing.
This is one of the better time's of the Year, usually, for a good bag of fish, and as we went out, the Sea was really nice and flat and a good day was expected, even if we did not catch any fish.
The big lines went out, and the fishermen dipped their lines into the water going after the small fish. It seems illogical, but 1000 hrs and 1400 hrs always seem the best time to catch fish, and sure enough on the dot of 1000 hrs the line zipped out to lead to the landing of a nice Cobia. Ten minutes later the second Cobia came on board, and while the wise rested their eyes, the serious ones fished on for the small ones.
About 1400 hrs the big line zipped out and another Cobia entered the list for the barby. Being wise the Captain gave it an hour or so, and departed for the 'Padang area'
and as soon as we threw the lines out we were into a big school of Padang up to 1/2 KG. Padang were caught by the dozen, and all the fishermen had A bag full to take home on top of the Cobia.
Fine day over we sauntered back to port and relaxed under a wonderful Sky. T.T.F.N.
