SPORTS EQUIPMENT FOR SCHOOLS
In keeping with PSC’s aim of promoting sports in our community, each year more than B100,000 is allocated to supply poorer schools with much needed sports equipment. The education department identifies those schools which would benefit most from this scheme. A short list is supplied to the charity chairman who then visits the schools and after discussion with the relevant Headmasters and Sports Directors decides what equipment would be of greatest benefit to the children. In most cases a budget in the area of B20-25,000 is sufficient to give them a wide variety of sports goods. Volleyball ,Football [soccer], Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Takraw and Petanque seem to b e the favoured sports in most schools although running shoes and stop watches have been supplied to schools with an athletics programme. PSC also donate trophies to various Junior Sports Bodies as an incentive to higher achievement. The Thai Amateur Boxing Assoc recently introduced a Tuition Programme to the school system and PSC were happy to be the first to donate the necessary equipment to kick start it.
