TO FUND SCHOLARSHIPS

YWCA Bangkok Pattaya branch. The first cheque for B 195,000 was to support 130 students enrolled in the Happy Families Scholarships, PSC has been a long time supporter of this programme which supports needy primary school students. The second cheque for B 412,000 was to fund the students enrolled in the Pattaya Sports Club’s Special Scholarships.
This programme now in its second year awards students beginning secondary school an allowance of B 10,000 per year guaranteed for three years [while their grades and application remain positive]. Twenty students are selected each year to participate in the programme to a maximum of 60 students. While preference is given to those students already supported by PSC all Happy Families students are eligible. The criteria for selection while needs based is biased toward those students with high achievement levels and a strong desire to continue their education. Last years participants pleased us with their efforts and those that were accepted this year seem even more enthusiastic.
The Committee of PSC are indebted to the YWCA without whose work aiding in the selection process and the ongoing administration of these two Programmes many local children would lack these opportunities. We realize the importance of offering local youth opportunities to improve their future through education and hope that this support can continue well in into the future.
